Information scope

Which information may be used during a donation?

The donor account and transaction record may contain the information needed to associate the donation with the correct person and support page.

  • First and last name and, where applicable, legal-entity name
  • Email address and telephone number
  • Donation date, amount and payment status
  • Transaction or reference number
  • The supported organisation, scholarship programme or project
  • Any donor preference and scholarship-recipient selection criteria
  • Technical records such as IP address, date, time and pages accessed for account security and technical troubleshooting
Card security details are not part of these records

The full card number, expiry date and CVV are not stored in bursverenler.org systems and are not transferred to the institution panel.

Purposes

Why is donor information used?

Information must be limited to purposes necessary and relevant to donation and platform operations.

  • Creating and verifying the account
  • Associating the donation with the correct account, organisation, scholarship or project
  • Confirming the payment result and transaction record
  • Donation transfer, reconciliation and reporting for the relevant institution
  • Reviewing receipt, incorrect transaction, duplicate transaction or technical support requests
  • Considering donor preferences within the relevant scholarship or programme process
  • Information security, misuse prevention and compliance with legal obligations
Donating does not constitute marketing consent

Communications required for account and donation operations must be distinguished from newsletters, promotions and marketing. Donor information must not become a marketing list without separate permission or another appropriate legal basis.

Authorised access

Who may access donor information?

Donor information is not public. Access is limited to parties whose duties and authority require it for the transaction.

Authorised bursverenler.org and Yücel Kültür Vakfı personnel

They may access information needed for membership, donation records, transfers, reconciliation, support, security and legal processes within the scope of their duties.

Authorised users of the supported institution

To manage donations made to their institution or projects, they may view limited information such as donor name, email or telephone, amount, date, supported page and any selection preferences.

Bank or authorised payment provider

It processes card and payment information in its secure infrastructure to authorise and complete the payment. Card security details are not sent to the institution panel.

Authorised service providers and public authorities

Access or transfer may occur only to the necessary and lawful extent for technical infrastructure, security, performance, accounting or legal obligations.

Donor information is not unnecessarily disclosed to the scholarship recipient

The donor’s identity, contact details and donation record are not shared with scholarship recipients or unrelated parties unless required for an authorised scholarship model, payment, reporting or legal process.

Card security

Card details are processed on the secure payment screen

For a card donation, you enter card details on the secure payment screen of the bank or authorised payment provider. bursverenler.org may use the payment result and limited transaction information needed for the donation record, but does not store card security credentials.

  • Not stored: Full card number, expiry date and CVV.
  • May be included in the transaction record: Donation amount, date, payment status, transaction number and supported organisation or project.
  • Not shared with the institution: Card number, CVV, expiry date, online-banking password and SMS verification code.
  • Secure transfer: Information exchanged through the site is protected by an SSL certificate.
Your card does not remain saved in the system

It is normal to be asked to enter card details again for a new donation. Do not assume that bursverenler.org offers a saved-card selector or access to full card details.

Privacy preferences

A visibility preference does not make the transaction completely anonymous

Hiding a donor’s name on a donation page or choosing a privacy option does not mean that payment and legal records are anonymous. The bank, payment provider, bursverenler.org and, where necessary, the supported institution may use limited transaction information to complete the process securely.

  • Public visibility and authorised transaction access are different.
  • Donor preferences must be used only for the relevant purpose and scholarship model.
  • Donor details must not be published or disclosed to third parties without authorisation.
  • Communication and privacy preferences must be protected in institutional reports and support processes.

Steps you can take

Protect your account and payment security

  • Enter login and payment details only on secure pages opened through bursverenler.org.
  • Never share your password, card details or SMS verification code.
  • Do not use suspicious payment links sent by email, message or telephone.
  • Never include a full card number, CVV or bank password in a support request.
  • If you need to share a receipt or screenshot, mask unnecessary account and card details.
  • After using a shared device, sign out and check that your password was not saved by the browser.

Suspicious transaction

Act promptly if you see an unrecognised or suspicious transaction

  1. Contact the bank or payment provider that issued your card.
  2. Change your account password and check that your contact details are correct.
  3. Email info@bursverenler.org with the transaction date, amount and reference number where available.
  4. Do not include your card number, CVV, password or SMS verification code.
