An account is not deleted directly with a button: Requests are reviewed by the bursverenler.org team to protect the data security of scholarship seekers, scholarship providers and authorized users, and to check ongoing scholarship relationships and account permissions.
When a request is reviewed, personal data for which the reasons for processing no longer exist is deleted, destroyed or anonymized. Limited records that must be retained for legal obligations, ongoing transactions or the protection of rights may be kept for the applicable period.

Review your account before starting the process
- Review your ongoing or unresolved scholarship applications.
- Check whether you have active scholarship support or ongoing communication with an institution.
- Review messages and account information that you may need later.
- If you only want to correct information, update your profile or application form instead of cancelling your membership.

How do I submit a membership cancellation and personal data deletion request?

If you are not currently receiving a scholarship, use the link below to open your email application. The recipient, subject and request text will be filled in automatically.

State your request clearly
Use the phrase “Membership cancellation and personal data deletion request” in your message. Include your first and last name and the email address registered to your account, and clearly state the action you are requesting.

Wait for identity and account verification
Additional verification may be requested to confirm that the account belongs to you and to determine whether there is an active scholarship relationship or institution authorization. Never share your password or SMS verification code.

The administrator review is completed
The request is reviewed with consideration for data security, ongoing transactions, the accountability of scholarship relationships and applicable retention obligations.

What happens to your data after a request?
Can I access my account after membership cancellation?
Account access is closed when membership is cancelled. You may no longer be able to access your profile, application form, messages and other account areas. Complete any necessary checks before submitting your request.
Is all personal data deleted at the same time?
Data is reviewed according to the purpose for which each category is processed and any legal retention requirement. Data for which the reasons for processing no longer exist is deleted, destroyed or anonymized using an appropriate method. Access to records that must be retained is restricted, and those records are kept only within the scope of the relevant obligation.
Can the deletion process be reversed?
Information that has been deleted or destroyed may not be recoverable. After the process is completed, there is no guarantee that your former profile, documents, messages or application information can be restored.
Can I create another account later?
Even if you can register again, information, documents and applications from your previous account may not be restored to the new account. Do not create a second account with the same information before the cancellation process is completed.

Scholarship seekers
If you have an ongoing scholarship relationship
Do not submit a membership cancellation or personal data deletion request. If you selected the wrong scholarship or no longer want your application to be evaluated, follow the Requesting That an Application Not Be Evaluated guide. Asking for an application not to be evaluated and asking for your membership and personal data to be deleted are different processes.
If you are receiving active support from a scholarship program you applied to through bursverenler.org, the status of the scholarship relationship may be checked before your request is processed. This review helps prevent an unexplained recipient or payment from appearing in the scholarship provider's records and protects accountability.
Deleting your membership does not by itself mean that the scholarship relationship with the provider has been ended. First contact the relevant institution through the platform's communication channel, then submit your membership cancellation request.
Scholarship providers
Distinguish institution membership from administrator authorization
If an employee leaves the institution or changes duties, remove the relevant user's Institution Management Panel authorization instead of cancelling the institution's membership. This ends access to scholarship recipient data while preserving the institution's scholarship and donation records.
Ongoing scholarships, donation records, authorized users and scholarship recipient data must be reviewed together. Submit a written request as an authorized representative of the institution and complete the verification process.
