1. Name and organisers
The competition was named the “Have Your Say” Video Competition. Yücel Cultural Foundation and bursverenler.org are referred to as the “organising institutions” in these specifications. The organisation and execution of the competition belonged to the organising institutions.
2. Purpose
The competition aimed to raise awareness of donations in support of young people who could not sufficiently benefit from their right to education because of financial hardship, and to create scholarship opportunities for more young people by promoting bursverenler.org.
It also aimed to encourage more institutions and organisations to contribute to young people’s education through social responsibility projects.
3. Theme
The theme of the competition was to communicate the scholarship opportunities offered through bursverenler.org to the public through the “Have Your Say” Video Competition.
4. Competition categories
The competition was evaluated in two categories:
- Donation category: The best video encouraging individuals and institutions to contribute to education.
- Scholarship category: The best video promoting bursverenler.org.
Videos approved by the jury for publication were published on YouTube. The video receiving the highest number of audience votes was awarded first place in its category.
5. Participation rules
- Participation in the competition was free of charge.
- All participants had to be at least 18 years old.
- Both amateur and professional video creators could participate. Employees of the organising institutions, jury members and their immediate family members could not participate.
- Each participant could submit a maximum of five videos across both categories. Videos were uploaded through the participation form and the selected category was indicated.
- Videos, including titles and credits, had to be between 40 and 300 seconds long, have a minimum resolution of 720p (1280 × 720), and be in MP4 format.
- Participants declared, accepted and undertook that the submitted video belonged entirely to them and that all necessary permissions had been obtained. Participants were responsible for any breach of this undertaking.
- Each submitted video had to include a tagline.
- Any action intended to misrepresent ownership of a video or mislead the assessment process was considered a breach of the rules.
- In the event of a breach, prizes, titles and any other gains could be withdrawn and the participant was required to return the prize immediately.
- The organising institutions had the right to award, exhibit, publish, edit, reproduce and share the submitted videos.
- By submitting a video, participants were deemed to have accepted all provisions of these specifications.
- Competition results were announced through bursverenler.org, yucelkulturvakfi.org and the social media accounts of Yücel Cultural Foundation and bursverenler.org.
- Award winners were announced at the award ceremony and prizes were presented during that ceremony.
6. Use of videos and copyright
The organising institutions could exercise the rights of adaptation, reproduction, distribution, public performance and communication to the public, as regulated under Articles 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25 of the Turkish Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works No. 5846. Videos could be archived by the organising institutions.
Participants accepted that they would not make any additional claim beyond the prize for the use of videos and taglines, that the video belonged to them, and that they would assume civil and criminal responsibility for claims by third parties concerning copyright, related rights, quotation or plagiarism.
Videos or excerpts could be used, with the owner’s name stated where possible, in events, educational activities, exhibitions, printed and digital catalogues, websites, mobile applications, social-media accounts, promotional materials, publications, digital media, books, advertisements and similar promotional or educational channels without additional payment.
Uses beyond the competition scope were subject to the participant’s permission. Videos had to be prepared entirely by the participant.
